DANDIYA RAAS 2016
Dandiya 2016
Dandiya Raas is a traditional dance from Gujarat (West India) involving wooden sticks called Dandiyas. The dancers hit each other's dandiyas to the beat of the music. It is performed during the festival of Navratri (nine nights) as a lead in to Diwali, the Indian new year.
Don't worry if you have never done it before, it's easy to learn! "Pro" dancers from our community will lead the dance! Each person will be provided with a pair of dandiyas.
Indian street food and refreshments will be available for purchase, so bring some cash and make a whole evening of it!
