The International Association of Tamil Research (IATR), Federation of Tamil Sangams of North America (FeTNA), and Chicago Tamil Sangam (CTS) proudly announces the 10th International Conference Seminar on Tamil Studies.
Today, it is widely known as the World Tamil Conference (WTC), and will be held in Chicago from July 4-7, 2019. This is approximately five years after the last conference was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Incidentally, this monumental occasion will mark the first time this an international Tamil Research conference is being held on the American sub-continent!
The event will be a colossal occasion commemorating several milestones, including the 10th International Conference Seminar on Tamil Studies, the 32nd anniversary Tamil Vizha (Convention) of FeTNA and the 50th year anniversary (Golden Jubilee) celebration of CTS. The Global Tamil Entrepreneurs’ Network (GTEN) will also be participatingbe part of in the conference.
FeTNA’s 32nd anniversary Tamil Vizha Convention and CTS Golden Jubilee celebrations will be held on July 4-5, 2019. The central theme of this segment is “keezhadi nam thaai madi” highlighting the groundbreaking findings of the Keezhadi excavations in Tamil Nadu. It will also commemorate the 200th birth anniversary of Tamil scholar Rev. G. U. Pope.
The Tamil research conference will be held on July 6 & 7. The focus of the conference will be “New Historicist, Scientific and Comparative Study of the Antiquity of the Tamils, Tamil Language, Literature, Culture and Civilization”.
The research subjects will include, Classical Tamil literature Sangam literature, ancient Tamil civilization, Tholkappiam, Thirukural, contributions of Tamil scholars, Tamil music and performing arts, modern Tamil literature and Tamil language and linguistics.
The late Dr. V. C. Kulandaisamy – former Vice Chancellor of Anna University and Vice Chairman of IATR – was instrumental in orchestrating this conference to be held in the United States. Appropriately, the IATR Research Conference at Chicago will be dedicated in his memory.

While there is considerable emphasis on research, academia and cultural activities, our paramount objective is to cultivate meaningful relationships with between the international diaspora of Tamil people. We look forward to strengthen our bond as a community through our shared language, culture, and traditions. Our hope is to create a foundation for a global Tamil community that supports and lifts up its members in every aspect of life.
