Overview

My Kind of Town is part RPG and part board game, played over 4 hours. It brings together up to 40 players in the aftermath of humanity's failed war against the zombies. In this game, each player leads a ragtag group of survivors through a post-apocalyptic Chicago where every move might be their last.

Information and trust are currencies as valuable as food, fuel, and military-grade explosives, and each group will find their values tested as the game unfolds.

Each player's survivors will have a unique set of advantages and drawbacks, and each player has a chance to pick a Core Value which defines their victory condition - and just like in life, your values may change over time.

A few players will play individuals up to... something... in the Loop Island. What are their intentions? Do they have the answer to infection, or are they just in a safe place to watch the world burn around them? You'll have to play to find out!

FAQ

Q - I have friends I want to play with, can I sign up as part of a team?

Kinda! Unlike most megagames like Watch the Skies, teams aren't determined beforehand - and in fact, there are no teams! - however, you can buy up to 5 tickets in an order if you want to bring some friends along to the apocalypse. 

Q - Can I play as a zombie? 

Human players only for this game, sorry. Like in the best zombie fiction, the undead are a threat secondary to the treachery of your fellow Man. However, certain actions that you take as a player may cause zombies to be attracted to your location, for example driving your schoolbus-turned-mobile-fortress around the city causing a lot of ruckus will most likely leave a trail of zombies in your wake. So that's always an option.

Q - What exactly is this thing I'm looking at here? Mega- -game? Part board--- Like Monopoly? 

First, I understand, and thank you for asking. We get that a lot. Megagames are kind of hard to understand if you don't already know what they are.

Megagames are a lot of things. They started as complicated realistic wargames, and newer games kind of seem like LARPs (live action roleplaying games) in a way. The game, and more importantly, the collective story is driven by the players and their choices, and because of that every game is different. 

The games normally start out relatively structured, with pieces and cards and rules like a modern board game, but tend to morph into a large-scale roleplaying game where player choices are arbitrated by the Game Masters/Control towards the end of the game. It'd be like if halfway through Monopoly, everyone suddenly decided that they wanted to start having fun, so you started playing Dungeons and Dragons within the Monopoly game (and then you called up a few other games of Monopoly and let players move freely between them).
