Sargam Sonata - Indian & Western Music
Sargam Sonata is a unique concert that promises to entertain the audiences with Hindustani form of Indian classical music, Jazz form of Western music, and Indian Movie Melodies. The concert is divided into two sections, highlighting both Indian and Western musical forms.
Abhinav Chikkatur, known as Sargam, a versatile artist trained in multiple music genres, will lead this concert with his 10+ people band and enchant audiences with his vocals and piano skills. Graduating from DVHS this year, Abhinav is pitch perfect and can holds the distinction of being able to decipher sargams for any song he listens to. Abhinav has excelled in the school's Jazz band and Jazz Club, earning accolades like the Louis Armstrong Award, AKKA IDOL 2020, and many other awards in recognition of his outstanding performances in the USA and India. In 2023, Abhinav along with his 6 others were invited to perform at the very prestigious Bengaluru Ganesha Utsava (BGU) in Bangalore, India.
The Sargam Sonata concert aims to raise funds for the Sri Shankara Cancer Foundation (SSCF) [https://www.sscfusa.org/], supporting cancer treatment for underprivileged patients across two hospitals in India. SSCF-USA has successfully raised over a million dollars, aiding more than 300 cancer patients, including children.
All proceeds from the concert, after covering expenses, will be donated to SSCF.
